Live Scan fingerprinting
Live Scan fingerprinting is planned as a future WCID service. The goal is a convenient local fingerprinting option for employment, licensing, certification, and other approved background-check requirements.

What to bring
- Your Request for Live Scan Service form, filled in by the agency requesting it
- An unexpired government photo ID
- Payment for the rolling fee and the state fees
Without the request form there is nothing to submit the prints against. Ask whoever requested the check to send it before your appointment.
Accepted ID
- California driver's license or state ID
- Out-of-state driver's license or ID
- US or foreign passport
- Permanent resident card
- US military ID
Acceptable identification can vary. It must be unexpired and the name must match the request form.

Where can I go in the meantime?
Other Live Scan providers operate in the area on limited schedules. Ask the agency that requested your fingerprinting for currently approved locations.
How long do results take?
Most DOJ results come back within a few days, and FBI results can take longer. The agency that requested the check receives them directly, not you.
Can I get a copy of my own results?
Not through Live Scan. Results go to the requesting agency. For your own record you request it directly from the Department of Justice.
What if my prints do not take?
It happens, usually with worn or dry fingertips. The DOJ allows a resubmission, and if prints are rejected twice there is a manual name check process the requesting agency can use.
Can I do Live Scan and a notarization in one visit?
Yes, once Live Scan opens. Mention both when you book and the time will be set aside.
